KSSR

内阁在上7/12/10的会议中决定按步就班改善UPSR(六年纪检定考试)PMR(中学初三,初级文凭考试)的成绩评估方式。

2) Pentaksiran Pusat -
3) Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan dan Kokurikulum -
4) Pentaksiran Psikometrik -

We Are OK With Extra Teaching Hours

The following article appeared in The Star today.

TEACHERS' unions should not interfere with Chinese primary schools which are willing to teach Year One pupils beyond the hours set by the Education Ministry, said the United Chinese School Teachers Association (Jiao Zong).
Sin Chew Daily quoted Jiao Zong chairman Ong Chiow Chuen as saying that the National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP) should not stop those willing to teach beyond the 23-hour limit per week because Chinese schools were different.
“Chinese primary school pupils need to learn three languages so the extra hours can help them master these.
“With the extra hours, Year One classes will finish at almost the same time as other forms so it will be more convenient for parents and school bus drivers to pick the children up,” he said.
He said the extra hours would not tire the pupils if the classes were interesting.
“Usually, the extra hours will be used to teach English or other subjects that they are weak in,” he said.
On Sunday, NUTP complained that some schools were forcing teachers to teach beyond the 23-hour limit per week.
Its secretary-general Lok Yim Pheng had said that 23 hours were sufficient for pupils at that level and that making children study longer hours would affect other aspects of their growth.

The dedicated teachers in our school fully support Jiao Zong in this issue. They do not mind having to teach our Year One students an extra 200 minutes weekly.
Kudos to Yuk Chai teachers

Antigen

Dear Parents
We received the following email from a parent recently.

Thank you for sending me the latest update information but am very disappointed with the teacher or the school personnel for not informing parents in advance about the jab/injection performed by the Health Ministry which I believe it commence on 18 April 2011.  My daughter got the jab on 19 April, which not supposed to have in school as I have put clear remarks on the Health Record Book that I will take her to a family doctor.  I am very concern about this because my daughter just recovered from her 3 days fever and body still not strong enough to take any jab for this moment.  She complains pains, feeling uneasy and vomiting yesterday.  I hope not to hear anything worst than that when she returning from school today.
I strongly suggest that notice must be given to the parents in advance at least 1 - 2 days as to avoid any bad things happen to the children.  Even though agreed in the health record book for the jab but must take into consideration on current health condition and check through what remarks written on the book before allowing the children for the nurse to jab.  Health Ministry’s dedicated nurse may not be bothered to check the book contents as too many children to be jab at the time, therefore teachers must play their role properly.
I sincerely hope this incident will not happen again or to other children.

To put things into perspective, all the year 1 students in Malaysia will receive their second booster of Antigen in school. Normally the school administration will seek the parents’ permission during orientation to allow their children to receive the jab by filling up a form. If “Setuju” is ticked on the front page of the health record book, the teachers would normally arrange for the students to receive their jab accordingly.

To prevent such incident from recurring in the future, we have requested the school administration to inform students in advance so that they can relay the message to their respective parents about the jab. We have also informed the school administration to check the Health Record Card thoroughly for remarks by parents in the future.

On the part of parents, we hope that everyone would write their remarks or special requests more prominently on the front page of the Card. Parents are also welcome to call the school or come personally to see the teachers concerned/ Head Master for special arrangements.

Our children are dearest to us and let us all work together to provide a conducive learning environment for them.

If you have any constructive suggestions for the betterment of our school, please leave your comments here.

Thank you and happy parenting.
